Tales of a frustrated boyfriend – pt. 15

by mckaybeedcfr

Hey Chioma! Wake up! I tapped her gently on the arms as she was lying down on her side. “Wake up, it’s morning” I said as I tapped her for the second time. She stood up from the couch reluctantly, first sitting, before finally standing up. She threw her hands in the air in a bid to stretch herself, thus drawing her crop top further up, pushing her chest forward and revealing a greater portion of her pant; she even wore a G-string. She yawned, and tried to cover her mouth with her left hand. “What? Why are you looking at me like that?” she asked, her voice quickly distracting me from gazing upon her – the sight of a flat tummy with 3 layers of waist beads and a red G-string; this combination was truly a beauty to behold. “Errrm nothing, was just wondering why your belly button is sort of hidden” I said in my defense. I lied fam, I lied. I only saw the belly button at the last minute before opening my mouth to say anything at all. “Oh that, well, that’s how it is in my family… By the way, how was your night? You went into the room last night and abandoned me here”. “Oh yeah! About that, I’m really sorry; it wasn’t my intentions to just sleep off, I actually wanted to ease myself and one thing led to another, then I found myself on the bed.
We were still having the conversation when my message tone rang; behold it was a text from the Queen herself – Yes, because even the content of the message was enough to call her a Queen.
Where are you?
This is someone that has not established communication with me for the past 84hours or so, despite my numerous calls, texts and whatsapp messages; only for her to reach out to me again, she’s asking where I am, by 7am on a Tuesday morning. The ‘sarcastic me’ would have replied “I’m at the club getting a lap-dance from a stranger, with a bottle of Hennessey in my hand” but no, we already had one unresolved issue and I wasn’t ready to make things more complicated. Giving her such a response would have defiled all that I  stand for, and given a contradictory impression to the content of the text I sent the previous night; so I decided to answer like the responsible young man that I am.
Hey! I’m at home. I hope there’s no problem? Can I call you?
Chioma, who was still standing right in front of me all the while, waved to draw my attention to the fact that she was there. Apparently, I’ve had my face buried in my phone for the past 2mins, caring less that I still had company. I immediately rose my face and asked her if she was talking to me. “No I wasn’t talking to you mister! I have to go and freshen up and probably start my day, I’d see you later in the evening” she said as she walked towards me, hugged me, gave me a peck on my left cheek and made her way to go out. Coincidentally, while her lips were still on my cheek, my message tone rang again…
I’m on your street, I’m coming.
To be honest, seeing that message threw me off balance – I quickly looked out my window to be sure Chioma had entered her house, I looked around the house to see if there was any trace of Chioma being here over the night. I ran into the bedroom to get my air freshener, sprayed a copious amount in the air, so much that I started sneezing. I didn’t mind because I didn’t want a situation where she’d come in and perceive a different fragrance or something; I mean, you know how ladies can be, one shouldn’t underrate them, and even if one wants to, my lady wasn’t the type you’d want to take such chances with because she’s damn intelligent and sensitive.
Just to be clear, I wasn’t doing all of these because I had any ulterior motives with Chioma or because I had something to do with her the night before (which wasn’t the case) but my experience with my 16 exes had taught me that, as much as possible avoid any situation that would put you in an awkward position where you’d require giving a whole lot of explanations to get out of. Definitely, she’d find out about Chioma, because I plan to tell her about her; but not in this manner, and obviously not when we still had scores to settle. So I was ready to tie every loose ends to that effect, even if it means me choking myself for a while, rather than have her make me face a ‘panel of a single judge’. I was still trying to arrange the house and remove every trace of Chioma spending the night, when I heard a knock on my door – my heart skipped a beat. How come she got here so fast? Could it be that she was just a few blocks away before messaging me or what? “Hold on I’m coming!” I said, walking gently to the door while still looking around for any final minute touch before the grand entrance of ‘Her Royal Majesty’. I opened the door and met Chioma standing before me; “Ah ah! What is this doing one doing here again na?” I said to myself. “Sorry, I think I dropped my bandana by the side of the couch last night when my head started aching me; I even had to scatter my hair before I got a little relief and was able to sleep. Can you just help me get it?”… I didn’t even wait for her complete her sentence before dashing off to get it for her. Before she could say thank you, I already waved ‘bye-bye’ and shut the door. I could feel my heart pounding against my chest, my pulse was rising, I even felt a little dizzy and had to sit down.
About a minute after Chioma had left, I heard a knock on my door, followed by the sound of the knob turning; Hanty didn’t even wait for me to respond or get the door before she entered by herself – like I said, she is ‘THE QUEEN’. “Hey babe!” I said; she didn’t even bother coming to meet me on the couch, she just walked straight into the bedroom. She was carrying two bags; a portable traveling box that was in the shape of a semicircle, and a backpack. In my mind I was like, what’s going on here? It wasn’t time yet for the BAEcation we had previously planned, and I wasn’t sure we were still going to make the trip because of the current state of affairs. So why is she coming to my house with 2 bags this early in the morning after about 4 days of not communicating with me?… Well, sitting down here won’t provide me the answers I need, I said to myself – So I stood up and joined her in the room. I met her trying to arrange the traveling box inside the wardrobe. “Babe, what’s up, what’s going on?” I enquired. She turned to face me – “Mumsy’s mum took ill and has been rushed to the hospital, so mumsy wants me to go with her to the village this morning. I just stopped by to see you and inform you that I’d be out of town till Friday probably. And I was also thinking that, instead of us spending money to travel out of town and booking an hotel and all that, we can just do a weekend here in the house, probably go shopping to get enough stuffs that would last us the weekend, get enough fuel for the generator and all that… So I thought we could do that on Friday when I return, which is why I just packed already”. She then turned back to continue with what she was doing. Ok, that’s fine, I said. I’d have to clear my schedule for the weekend then. How have you been though? I added. She turned back at me with a smile, “I’ve been ok my dear. I’m sorry for cutting you off these past few days, I just wanted to clear my head really. Plus I got your text last night; I wanted to reply but changed my mind as I was already planning on seeing you this morning”.
Honestly, she apologizing for cutting me off, gave me some sort of excitement and I thought to just not let the moment slide by without pulling a string as well. “But don’t you think cutting me off wasn’t the best way to deal with whatever it is you’re going through? I mean, no matter how difficult the issue is, we can talk about it and go through it together, that’s why we are partners I suppose. We are meant to help each other through the storms of life and make things easier for one another”. “I know, I’m sorry really! See we’d talk about it when I get back you hear? Thank God we have the whole weekend to ourselves” she said winking at me. She walked up to me, wrapped her arms around me, put her head on my right shoulder and hugged me passionately.
I’m sorry my love…
I, in return put my hands around her waist and leaned towards her; we remained in that position rocking left and right for about 2mins, before she finally broke the embrace and kissed me gently on my lips. I was already closing my eyes and seeing red roses all around when she pulled herself back and with a smile announced that she has to go as her mum was waiting for her to join her at the park. “Why do you smell like a girl though? I think you need to change your perfume, this one doesn’t smell masculine at all”. She then turned to pick her backpack; If only she knew what she smelt was probably Chioma’s…
I walked her to my street junction, got a keke for her and paid her fare. She bade me goodbye and signaled that she’d call me. I turned to walk back home, thinking about all that had just happened; how there would have been problem if Chioma had delayed more at my place, and how she actually swallowed her pride to apologize first. Yet again, my message tone rang for the 3rd time in the last 30mins; I brought out my phone and realized the message was from Chioma.
I saw you and your sister from my window. She is so pretty and she looks just like you..
In my mind I was like, what’s wrong with this one?
